Don Francisco, following decades in the television industry, is now exploring the digital realm with his video podcast titled “Qué dice el Público.”
In it, he reveals intimate details about his career and provides an introspective glimpse behind the scenes of his iconic show «Sábado Gigante.»
In his latest episode, the esteemed host imparts important lessons on humility and adaptability.
He particularly emphasizes a pivotal moment following the conclusion of “Sábado Gigante” and his subsequent transition to the Telemundo network.
Don Francisco confesses mistake

During his discussion about the shift to Telemundo following «Sábado Gigante,» Don Francisco admitted to a ‘mistake’ that impacted his early days at the new network.
He acknowledged a lack of modesty in initiating an overly grandiose project, which he now believes might have hindered his success in the Spanish-speaking television industry.
«I wanted the show to end on a grand scale with lots of people, because we were going to have more than a thousand people, and we were planning to bring all our relatives…» he shared.
«When I made my exit, I wanted to leave in a cart, one of those hand carts, and that was how I planned to depart,» Don Francisco revealed in his podcast.
Lessons after the end of a successful program

«And of course, all my colleagues were very much against the idea of me exiting in that manner,» the Chilean broadcaster commented.
«I intended to make a modest exit, but I was inspired by a musical piece called ‘Fiddler on the Roof’,» he explained.
«For those who haven’t seen it, the musical is about a family forced to leave their home, in their case due to persecution. In my case, it symbolized the end of an era,» he added.
«I envisioned it ending that way. My colleagues didn’t agree with it. It was the end of a cycle and the beginning of a new phase in my life,» revealed Don Francisco.
The transition to Telemundo and the initial obstacles

Subsequently, the host expressed, «I wasn’t mistaken at all in that because I had to embark on a new phase of life.»
He was referring to his new program, which he describes as «without an audience, without an orchestra, without as many cameramen», but «enveloped solely in technology.»
«With humility, I had to adapt to the new era,» he emphasized, acknowledging that his post-fame error was a lack of modesty.
«After ‘Sábado Gigante’ ended, we moved to do a talk show on another network, transitioning from Univision to Telemundo,» he mentioned.
The importance of humility

«And I think we started too ambitiously. We didn’t start small. We requested a large studio, we wanted a lot of audience,» he said.
«We incurred substantial production costs, and I believe that worked against us because we lacked humility. We were not modest enough,» the host disclosed.
«Perhaps it would have been wise to listen to some advice,» Don Francisco added in his statements on his YouTube podcast.
In his own words, «in a way, receiving advice is also a form of accepting criticism.»
Reflections on humility and adaptability

Acknowledging his lack of modesty when he began at Telemundo, Don Francisco reflected on the significance of this virtue during times of transition.
His statements provide an intimate look into the mindset of the legendary host, showcasing his capacity to adapt and learn from his past errors.
This episode unveils Don Francisco’s vulnerability and conveys a meaningful lesson on the importance of humility.
«I believe I have learned to navigate life this way: by fostering humility and always being open to advice,» he remarked. HERE can you watch the video.
